Book review // Summer Learning Journey, Day 13

The Best-Loved Bear Book Review By Wint
This story is about a boy named Tim who is worried because his class is having a best loved bear
competition. He feels embarrassed because his bear is not so normal, very unique, has lots of love
but is very hurt. He tries to fix it but he finds out that he just had to show the bear more love!

I like this book because it shows people not to be mortified about something you love and cherish.
It tells people to be proud of something you have gave and something you have made.

I recommend this book to anyone who is ashamed of themselves or someone who needs a little help
to find themselves. I rate this 10/10

My Trip to Te Oro // Summer Learning Journey, Day 10 /Post 2

On Wednesday 4th of July, some kids from Glen Taylor school had a trip to Te Oro. We were splitted in
3 groups with another school, so some of us made the same things and some of us made different things.
Now let me tell you what happened!

First of all, we had to walk there and I thought it was gonna be exhausting but I actually still had lots of
energy in me. When we got there, we went inside and waited for the other school. Finally they got here,
so we went inside this room where people greeted us and sang a waita. They introduced themselves one
by one and they told us their name, their mum and dad’s name and something they like to do. Soon after
we got splitted in 3 groups. One group made pet rocks another made these paintings of waters and my
group made flax necklace,

Firstly everyone in my group had to say their name and what they like to eat. Later my group splitted into
2 groups so that it's easier for everyone to learn how to make a flax necklace. The teacher showed us the
first steps and on the 3rd step I needed help but luckily Mrs Helena helped me. My friends helped me and
I really liked how it looked at the end. I decided to make another one for my brother, so I quickly made one.
Unfortunately I didn’t have time to make a 3rd one. We learnt a song about matariki and the actions were
basically how you do the macarena.

At the end we all sat down on the mat and group by group they told us what they did. The first group was
the one that painted a ocean. The people that were talking about what they did were kinda nervous but
they still said everything. The next group was the ones that made pet rocks. They talked about how they
learnt a story about this girl and  how they had ideas of the designs for their pet rocks. Then it was my
teams turn. We talked about what we did and why you don’t pick the baby flax. When it was almost the
end of the trip we all sang the matariki song with the actions and we kept going faster and faster.

That was my trip to Te Oro! I had so much fun and I was treated kindly so much! Would you ever want
to make star flax necklaces? Because I know I still want to.

Stuck In A Hole // Summer Learning Journey, Day 10

Stuck In A Hole
The sun rose over the hill as me and my friends were having an adventure. Instantaneously there was a hole but it was covered in grass so while we were having fun I accidentally tripped and fell in the hole with my friend. My friend and I started screaming for help but it felt like we were so alone, my friend tried to call the police for help but there were no bars. Fortunately we survived for a night because we could still breath and inside of my friend’s bag she had two water bottles and some snacks. We were trying to sleep comfortably until my friend woke me up and said that someone is coming to rescue us. We waited for a couple of minutes but no one came. So we had to just wait and wait and wait. Finally someone came and they helped us get out. The police came and gave us a ladder from an airplane and we started climbing. Soon after, we got on the plane and… they wrapped us in a blanket and took us home safely.  Finally we hugged our parent because they were so worried about us.

Candy Cooking // Summer Learning Journey, Day 7

My friends, siblings and I made some candy sushi, spaghetti and ice cream! First, we had to make it, so we looked at the back and just looked at the pictures showing the instructions because we couldn't actually read the instructions because they were writ-in in a different country. My brothers and their friend made these mini ice creams, meanwhile me and my friend made this Japanese dish.

Burmese New Year // Summer Learning Journey, Day 5 /Post 2

Burmese New Year!
Every year, I celebrate Burmese new year with my family and other Burmese people!

I have to wake up really early because I have to dance! I have been dancing
Burmese since I was 4 or 3. When I’m done getting in my Burmese outfit, I go
in the car and drive to the place where the celebration is. Lots of Burmese people around
New Zealand come here. I go to my friends and we just talk about stuff. People dance,
sing and you sometimes get money!

When, it was my team’s turn to dance, I waited anxiously for the
performance before us to finish. Finally, it was done and I felt so nervous. My team and I
went on stage and started performing. I danced and tried to remember the move coming
next. Some people came up the stage to give us money and these flower necklaces. Soon
after, we were done.

After, two performance was done it was time to eat. Everyone lined up and one by one
everyone got their food. I had noodles, chicken, rice and a different type of noodle. My
friends and I just talked while eating. For dessert, I had these little white balls wrapped
around a sugar cube, it was delicious. We watched some performances that already
performed while eating because some people came late and didn’t see the first
performances. Finally, it was time for the water fight. Every year, we have a water fight
because it's a tradition. I got really wet but some people were totally covered in water.

Next year, I probably won't be dancing but at least I had fun and I am really excited
seeing the new performances next year.

Playground Sensory Story // Summer Learning Journey, Day 3 /Post 2

📖 Book Review // Summer Learning Journey, Day 3

Title - Weird

Author - Adrienne Frater

What is the story about? The story is about a girl named Jig who lives in a van.
She is embarrassed because her van is unique and different from the other vans.
It looks weird because it is painted purple, has leopard skin bedspreads, pineapple
curtains and much more. One day her mum invites her teacher to their house and
Jig is really nervous.

Rating - I rate this book 8 out of 10 because it is really interesting but the book needs
more information about the characters.

Fire And Ace Acrostic Poem // Summer Learning Journey, Day 2 /Post 2

Fun is playing with friends.
Integrity is telling the truth and always being honest to others.
Respect is something that a person needs to improve themselves.
Excellence is important to others because it means trying your best.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Achievement means accomplishing everything you ever dreamed of.
Confidence is the meaning of being a better person and showing everyone the real you.
Enjoyment is having fun and making memories with each other.
